The Bar
Unlike many pubs which serve food, we’ve kept the traditional pub attractions too. Enjoy a game of skittles, pool or darts with friends, be it relaxed or with a healthy edge of competition.
A large screen TV in the bar means, where available, sporting events can be watched with friends. Currently, Sky’s pricing for public houses precludes events not available on terrestrial TV – but this is kept under constant review in the (somewhat forlorn) hope that things will change.
Recently awarded Cask Marque Accreditation (scoring 20/20 on both visits), we are very proud of the standard of our real ales. Rather than offering a too-wide range that would result in cask ales losing quality through being 'on' too long, we serve Greene King IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord alongside a Guest Ale that changes regularly. We don’t neglect our keg beers either. Rigorous standards are enforced to ensure that, whatever your preference, your expectation of a high quality product well served, will be met.
The Garden
We’ve opened up the patio and garden at the back of the pub creating a great space to dine al-fresco (when the British weather allows) and for the kids to play. Friendly dogs on leads are welcome in the garden.
Teams / Sports / Meetings
We are pleased to continue to support our Pool, Skittles, Darts, Crib and Football Teams. There are various groups that meet at the pub – sometimes having a meal as part of the proceedings and sometimes just using the space as a convenient place to meet and talk. We are happy to organise outings where appropriate. For example, we arranged trips to the Heineken Cup quarter and semi-finals in 2011 to support Northampton Saints. If there’s something you’d like to go to let us know and we’ll see if there’s enough interest for a pub outing.
